    Best $100 AGP video card

Hey all, I am going to resurrect a PC of mine that I can throw Vista on. I would like to do a little gaming too while I'm at it. My budget is teh suck at $100. Is there a good video card that I buy for this, maybe one that used to be the shiz but now is affordable? I have an AGP slot.

    Thanks homies.

Here is Tom's Hardware recommended list. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/09/..._for_under_100 (continues on next page. Might try checking the list against prices at newegg or www.zipzoomfly.com
The ATI X1650 Pro or the NVidia 7600 GS are probably the best at about that price point. Most versions seem to be just above $100- closer to $120. Here is a 7600 GS at $99 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130076
Their X1650 Pro list: (I notice different clock speeds on some of them). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...sc=x1650%20pro

Hey guys thanks!!! DarkFury I'll pop that one into an old bucket that I have, and get the one zippyJ is recommending in the resurrected computer. Hopefully I can get some good gaming on with this new card.

I'll second the ATI x1650 - I have an AGP version and it works very well.

Zippy gave you a great resource, TomsHardware[.com] has a breakdown of (most)all of the current cards out there, and puts it into a nice table for you that shows comparitively priced cards side-by-side.

Good luck not spending an arm and a leg on a card for the aging, but still not fully utilized AGP line.. I'm in the same boat and stuck with a 6800GT that gets the job done great, but still suffers up against some of the newer pci-e only cards.

Honestly, it just depends on what games you are trying to play with it.

If the game is older than one or two years... you should be fine with just about anything above a Geforce 6600GT. I still run a vanilla Geforce 6800 in my son's computer and it just screams on most of the games that I played over a year ago. It even serves as my "backup" gamer PC for those times when my main box is down.
