    Cake or pie?

One or the other. Which, in your opinion, is better? Well?

I voted for cake-but I like them both and shouldn't have either!

Honestly, I like "homemade cookies" better than either of those.

since you used quotes around homemade cookies are we to assume that you don't really like homemade cookies?

No... the quotes emphasize "homemade cookies" versus those that are store bought.

i know what you mean. it's just part of the unholy trinity of grammatical idiosyncrasies that i find particularly rankling. i think that's the right word.

if someone wrote the following, i believe i would pass out: irregardless of the incredible taste of my mom's "homemade cookies," i could care less about spending christmas at her house.

I would have assumed the " " indicated a preference for a "special spice" to be added.

I just had NY-style cheesecake, but my other option was strawberry pie. Oh the humanity!

Mmm, tough call but I gotta go with pie. Pumpkin pie, apple pie, coconut creme pie... mmmmmmmm. I likes me some pie. Cake is good, but isn't as filling as pie. I think desert should be filling. There's something very comforting about feeling full. Like everything's right with the world and you want to take a nap in a bed full of rose petals and puppies and $100 bills while hot naked midget chicks massage your feet and lick whipped cream from between your toes. Yea, pie can be that good.

IMO cheesecake is cheesecake, it's its own category. Anyone had cheesecake? I wouldn't touch that **** with a ten foot fork.

I always considered cheesecake to be a pie.

If it weren't for it having its own name, one would call it a pie.

And for that, and MANY MANY other reasons, I vote pie.

A good cake can be very good and a good pie can be very good but a good cheesecake is in a class by itself!

unless you're talking about chicken pot pie, you mean that disgusting feeling of ingesting too much saccharine fruit drenched in sugar syrup?

cake is light and fluffy and everyone enjoys its and it doesnt make you feel like **** after eating it.

Saccharine, sugar... y'mean like the frosting that goes on top of cake?

Frosting is my least favorite part of cake. Especially the shortening-laden kind that comes on most store-bought cakes. Bleh! I do like a good butter cream frosting or cream cheese frosting, but in moderation. Just a thin layer, not globbed on there. Mmmm!

I don't like overly sweet pies either. IMHO a good pie should taste like the filling, not like corn syrup or sugar that's been added to it. For that reason I don't like most store-bought pie fillings. They're way heavy on the corn syrups and have a shelflife comparable to that of a Twinkie. That's why I'm generally not a fan of cherry pie in particular, 'cause it's almost never NOT made from a can. But fresh cherry pie is delish!

maybe thats why cake is better, because you always have cake on a special occasion. I mean, who's ever heard of a Birthday Pie? Have you ever seen candles stuck in an apple pie? exactly....
