For no reason at all, Steely Dan.
You know, it’s been a pretty bad season of 24, it really has. Of course, last season was by far the best one, so maybe it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Seems to me the second or 3rd season, I don’t remember, was pretty lame too. It’s that kind of show. I mean, you pick a story and you are sort of stuck with it for the whole season, you can’t easily try and switch gears when it’s not working, without making the whole season sort of stupid.
Which I think is really the problem with this season. Too many plotlines that don’t really seem to go any where, and just…too many plotlines in general. I like my Jack, but I won’t say it’s the lack of Jack that is the problem, it’s more the lack of a tight story. But, like I said, with this kind of format, you sort of screw yourself right out the gate if you don’t have the whole season really tight. So I have hope that next season will step up.
Meanwhile, Heroes, a show I was not into at first, really rocks it hard. They have the same kind of format as 24 in that it’s a story a season, so they could easily suffer the same problem on inconsistent seasons. But right now, they rock.
