I like some ham. Reminds me- I should try to get one tonight. Vons has theirs on sale. It really came out delicious for Christmas this year. I covered the ham with dijon mustard and cooked it on a rack in a pan in the oven. Then I removed and sliced the ham and added some orange juice and some pomegranite glaze I picked up a while back at Trader Joes and cooked and stirred that until all the scrapings were disolved and poured that over the ham. Best I have ever had! Like candy!

Braised rabbit with garlic and rosemary, probably a number of vegetable dishes, etc.
    I think over again
    My small adventures, my fears.
The small ones that seemed so big,
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.

And yet there is only one great thing, the only thing:

To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.

Really? How ironic. How do you explain that to the kids?

Wow! You must be expecting quite a crowd Obie!
Sounds a bit like the Christmas dinner I had with a German family once. Let me see what I can remember. First a dumpling in broth as big as a basball. Then a plate of sausages and wurst with sauerkraut. Next was a turkey with stuffing. Then a ham was trotted out. Might have been something else too. Then big plate of cookies. And this was only for four people (the German couple, my brother and myself)! She must have been cooking for a couple of days- over her woodburning stove.

we usually don't do anything special. We're going scuba diving instead, so I suspect our Easter dinner will consist of hamburgers!
    Have a groovy day!

I always cook for the family on holidays-it's just easier for everyone to gather here because of the amount of room I have for everyone..sometimes they all show up in shifts but usually we all sit down at the same time. I've had upwards of 40 people sitting down to dinner all at the same time some years!..thanks to the size of my catering kitchen in the basement, it's easy to get everything cooked at the same time!
Oh! and brusell sprouts ROCK!..ESPECIALLY when they're sauteed with a bit of onion and crispy bacon! mmmm

We are smoking ribs, chicken, and grilling some brats, burgers.
    spicy noodles
    mac and cheese cassarole
    spinich salad
    Someone is bringing potatoe salad
    deviled eggs
I think someone is bringing wings
And I don't know what else is being brought

The kids want me to make Monster M&M cookies and banana pudding
We will probably make some finger foods and dips (veggie tray, fruit, hot wing dip (yummy for parties), and those little pickle roll up thingies that Mikey loves to make/eat.

    I still don't have a head count...

OK - I promise I'll at least try them (if only to be polite).

I was trying to think what our family has, then I remembered that for the past 5 years or so (and this year) we have always been invited by one of my wife's aunts to her retirement home for their Easter buffet. There's a strong Swedish influence there that shows up in some of the items on the buffet. It's always good.

    Dry

But I don't know what spices. But I do know he doesn't use a lot. Donnie plays more with the woodchips than with spices when we smoke ribs.

We are doing a ham with a mustard, pineapple, brownsugar glaze with cloves and sliced pineapple on the ham itself. And probably garlic and rosemary fingerling potatoes. Nothing too fancy.
Peter: Lois, you've got a sick mind!
Lois: Peter, I'm talking about making love.
Peter: Oh, I thought you wanted us to murder the children and harvest their organs for beer money.

Little Annarchy is only 10 months old, so she won't understand and won't be eating it anyway.

I currently have rabbit and Leg of Lamb in the freezer, so it will be one of them or possibly both if we have more people over.

my ham is in "pre-glaze" right now..lol..
I have a spiral ham that I have already coated in molassas and brown sugar..on Saturday night it will get the full soak of orange, pinapple and cherry juices, cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, black pepper, ground pinapple, more brown sugar and a bit more molassas..and man is it awesome once it comes out of the oven!

Today I cooked the meatballs and sausage and bracciola for the lasagna..I'm making my sauce early tomorrow so that they meat has time to simmer in there and flavor it up nice.
The lamb has been rubbed and innoculated with fresh (homegrown woohoo!) garlic-from garlic that has been growing in my family from original stuff 103 years ago!, rosemary sticks and a bit of black pepper and thyme..and is under wraps in the fridge. While the sauce cooks tomorrow I'm finishing up the baked goods. Easter baskets are made up for my kids, and my siblings..so that's done too...Sad to say though-I am NOT coloring eggs this year as I end up throwing them out..

I know how you feel! I love to color eggs and I always color too many!

But my friend Michelle shared a tradition in her family with me last Sunday at her house - Cascarones or confetti eggs! She saves egg shells all year long (cracking the egg at an end and taking about a quarter of the egg - just the tip - off) and has DOZENS to color, fills them up with confetti (sometimes she will use flour, traditionally it's purfume powder), seals the hole with a napkin circle or tissue paper circle. She uses a flour and water mixture to glue it to the egg.

The kids had a blast hunting eggs and then breaking them on each other! We were all covered in the confetti! We will be saving eggs this year for sure after we move

Gotcha. I've actually never had rabbit, but my brother says it's pretty good.

Damn, I was snoozing and didn't realize Sun. was Easter until yesterday. Probably won't be doing much then.
