I installed SP1 yesterday, no problem... Other than slow downlaod times went with out a hitch...

I have a WD 45GB hard drive orginally partioned into 15 and 30 so the comp will recognize it...I had (have) 13+ GB of data stored, and now Win2k says it is not formated.... WTF... I plan on trying it in another newer comp, but this was the server and I would like to keep the permissions here... Why did this happen and is my data gone?

You need to try it on another computer, like you said, so you can rule out a hardware error. Did you check the MS Knowledgebase to see if it's a known issue?

Is this the only drive in the system? What kind of drive controller is it - on the motherboard or PCI?

    Hmmm

Well Jeff I had planned on that, but it was 5am at the time... so it turns out the partition is completely stable on a nice new dell... Why isn't it working on the other, it is a primary slave CS Slave1 ATA66

Weird - could be that SP1 doesn't like something on your system? What model Dells are these?

I would suggest that you back up your data onto the new Dell, just in case....

That doesn't sound good - is it on the W2K HCL? Maybe try backing out of SP1....

Or, just back up that partition onto the Dell, put the drive back in your old machine, format the bad partition & do a restore.
