When does Dell usually hold their great deals?

I figured I'd try posting here first because I'm not really asking for a deal, but feel free to move this post, mods!

I remember talk about Dell having really big sales when they're near the end of their fiscal year. Has that already past? Or when does this actually happen?

    Thanks in advance!

I was hoping to see some great deals on back to school specials, etc. but nothing's that blown me out of the water yet.

I'm looking for another run of the mill laptop with a decent proc, good sized HD, and at least 2GB RAM.

You know, I'm not really sure. It's been about 6 years since I've purchased a new computer since I've just done Memory upgrades and Hard Drive upgrades over the years. The same goes for the laptop (Dell 600m)...

I'm probably going to buy a desktop and two laptops (one for me, one for the wifey), but I'm not sure what to look for now since I feel really outdated.

I have no idea what the processor chips even mean...is there any place that I can learn from?

Anyway, I like the Dell deal where they offer two flat screen monitors, but I'm not even sure if the monitor specs are good.

    Any help is appreciated!

heh. kevs, I know what you mean. I hadn't touched computers in YEARS, and for old time's sake, I built a new machine this summer, and I was like... ?!?!? what are all these things?

so yeah. I went to sites like toms hardware to see what their ideal 'budget machine' would be. and bought the processor off that along with a good deals i found on motherboards and memory.

as for laptops... make sure you get core2duo. avoid celeron/celly duo, etc. don't go back to some of the older models, because they don't have as good power management.

    Thanks for the info!

Yeap...I'm totally lost, so my first inkling is just buy top of the line since I probably won't buy another desktop/laptop for another 7 years!
