First experiences with a few foods last night

So I took my wife to a nice resturant last night for her B-day and for the first time had scallops and foie gras. (Not together)

Foie - It was actually not too bad, however, I couldn't get pass the fact I was eating liver. It had some soy sauce in it and paired with a peach tartar. Honestly, it sort of tasted like peanut butter.

Scallops - Wasn't too impressed with this one. I didn't like the texture of it and it was just a little bit too fishy for me.

It was our first experience with a tasting menu from the chef. Pretty cool.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

I can't stand either - I agree, scallops have a nasty texture. Foie gras doesn't taste too bad, but... yeah, it's fattened goose liver. Beah.

Scallops are one my favorite. They have to be fresh and can't be overcooked but are incredible done when prepared correctly.

ugh scallops... I don't know what it is about eating molluskian animals that I can't stand. Never had foie gras though and after finding out what it actually is I probably will pass on it in the future.

I don't eat seafood, so I'm out on the scallops.

    I've tried Foie and wasn't a fan.

Poi is fun to put on kualai <sp?> pig.

Taro-wrapped pork, however, is not my thing.

    I LOOOOOOVVEE both.
scallops must be done right for them to be yummy in the fancy sense. I've had plenty of take out chinese that the scallops still are yummy.

Foie is sooo rich, it's great, but I can't do too much. It's like eating the fat off of a prime rib (that big fat chunk in the prime rib...yeah.. yummy).
