Who still uses P2P?

Although most "popular" files are easily found through torrents, for random and obscure data, whether it be music, video or documents, I still think P2P clients are the way to go. They can be pretty slow, but the sheer diversity of files that you can find is unrivaled. For those who still use P2P clients, which client do you use? How well does it work? BTW, I'm not interested in format-specific clients such as soulseek.

Also, it seems like the Razorback 3.x servers I used to use are finally getting shut down. Which are your favorite servers and where do you find the server lists?

Technically BitTorrent is still considered P2P.

I use Frostwire every now and then when I need to find a specific song (rather than an album). Yes, I'm a pirate -- but until Microsoft smartens up and opens the Zune Marketplace/Zune Pass to Canadians, I can't do much else.

(no credit-card, and sites like Amazon don't sell points cards).

I still lurk around on DC networks when Im looking for something specific. As for torrents ONLY PRIVATE! I REFUSE to dL anything in a "shady" manner in Vista......Peerguardian is behind the power curve in the Vista realm.....

Bit Torrent is the only P2P client that I trust, only because it's the mainstream 'legitimate' client for large downloads.

I use torrents for Linux iso's and anime fan dubs that haven't been licensed yet.

i use bittorrent as my P2P. and i use vuze to download my files.

Yea. I use BT myself. Before oink was the ultimate music store. It had everything and I mean everything. Now I think it is what.cd/ I haven't found anyone with a invite to that private tracker.

Anyone? Trade?

I understand BT is technically P2P, but (correct me if I'm wrong) it's has a whole different form of distribution/search, doesn't it? Someone has to actually create a torrent of a certain file and seed it in order for others to search and download it. You usually only find "complete" files like music albums and movies that others may be interested in. I'm talking about the old-school P2P clients where as long as something is on somebody's share drive, I could find a random word document, PDF, *.dll, jpeg...the most obscure files! That's was the beauty of P2P clients such as eDonkey, eMule and such. That's what I'm looking for.

Anybody still use those?

you can still find obscure stuff on torrent sites, depending on what it is.

i don't use p2p, but if i did i guess i'd use edonky or limewire. i used to swear by kazaalite, but who knows these days.

i've found that a good, advanced google search will get you a lot of good stuff as well.

Yeah, eMule, Kazalite & etc. were all fantastic for searching for individial specific files. However, these days you have, oh, about a 75% chance of infecting your computer with some crap by using these clients to download. NOT a safe option.

Try NNTP or some advanced google searching.
