Hopefully there aren't any PSU fans out there

I have a feeling PSU is going to be mighty unhappy after this week's BCS standings are released. With Texas Tech's jump in the polls, I can almost guarantee you that they will end up #2 in the BCS. The good thing for Penn St is that Texas Tech has another big game against one loss Okie St next week.
It only ends once... Anything that happens before that is just progress.

If Texas had won this week, they would have been well on their way to the national title. Texas Tech was their fourth straight game against a top ten team- and almost their fourth top five- Tech was #6. Nasty conference schedule (Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech). Missouri no longer Top Ten but their two losses were to Oklamoma and Texas. Oklahoma State gets Texas Tech next week. Big 12 South is the toughest division in college football right now (Missouri is in the North and will probably face whomever survives to the South title). Oklahoma still has to play Texas Tech and Oklahoma State- Texas has the worst behind them now.
Penn State must be getting tired of team jumping over them in the polls. But when you are top five and knock off #1 that can happen.

    This week's Top Ten AP:
    1. Alabama (46) 9-0 1,600
    2. Texas Tech (12) 9-0 1,528
    3. Penn State (6) 9-0 1,525
    4. Florida (1) 7-1 1,398
    5. Texas 8-1 1,353
    6. Oklahoma 8-1 1,324
    7. USC 7-1 1,250
    8. Oklahoma State 8-1 1,198
    9. Boise State 8-0 1,030
    10. Utah 9-0 1,028

I think PSU gets pounded if they go to the NC game.

how do u say penn state gets pounded? their defense has been pretty damn good.

it's sad that they got jumped, but it was expected. the Big 10 needs a conference championship thing, give them an extra tough game in their schedule.

The Big 10 needs like.. well.. a TOUGH Game in their schedule period, and they could be sitting at Number 1.

I don't see Tech making it to the end anyways, but OSU or OU could even jump them depending on what happens with Tech.

The Big Ten always gets thumped in the championship.

Well, good win for my Hawkeyes today although probably bad for the conference.

The Big Ten has a lot of decent teams this year with really only Penn State sticking head and shoulders above the others.

I'd like to see them schedule a few more high profile out of conference games each year. I think in 2006 they went to the 12 game regular season schedule (as opposed to 11), but most teams just added a fluff school or another middle of the road MAC team.

I don't think it's fair to say the Big Ten always gets thumped in the championship considering its only representative since the BCS's inception has been Ohio State who is 1-2 in those games. Yes, they barely snuck out with the win against Miami...and they did get Rick Rolled vs Florida and handled pretty easily by LSU.

I think it's best to follow these rules of thumb for watching Big Ten football in major games:

    1) Pete Carroll/USC will win...by a lot

    2) Ohio State cannot beat an SEC team in a bowl game (0-9 all time)

Anyways, I've had a lot of fun watching the QBs and offenses of the Big 12 this year. I'm pulling for Texas Tech, although they have a rough one tonight and then play Oklahoma next week.

With the 'Bama v LSU game in OT right now...a lot is still up in the air over the last couple weeks.

    Exciting season for sure.

Too bad Alabama pulled that out. But oh well. PSU lost therefore no complaining for them.

I rest my case re: PSU getting whipped in the NC, if they would have made it. If Iowa could beat them then the team they were playing for the NC would definitely have whipped them.

Well that was pretty obvious. And the voters knew it. That's why they never got ranked number 1

So does that mean Florida (lost to Ole Miss) or USC (lost to Oregon St) will get thumped if they play in the NC?

College football is all about survive and advance. With these being college players the focus isn't always there, especially when on the road. With today's parity in the game, it seems like there is a headscratcher every week.

I agree somewhat but I also feel PSU really hasn't done anything this year to deserve a NC shot. I felt that way (obviously from my post last week) before this weekend's game and the results supported my assessment.

I don't think the USC/Oregon St is a head scratcher because Oregon St has played them tough the past few years even though the matchup was unbalanced in USC's favor.
