Isn't Whistler supposed to replace both 9x and NT? one OS for both the home market and businesses based on the NT kernel?
If thats true, then i'd guess that Personal is the home version and Pro the business/workstation version.

Is it available to the general public yet? Whatever beta version they're on right now?

Actually you can learn to "whistle" using just your tongue and the gap between your two front-most teeth, even with your jaws almost clenched shut. It sounds a little higher-pitched and softer than the usual "pucker-up" kind of whistling, but the up side to this is the lack of visible clues.

Or maybe that's just me. Being a freak and all.

Whistler beta is not available to general public.

I believe the latest version is build 2410.

Yeah, it's between beta 1 and 2. Microsoft is going to have a personal version (for consumers) and a professional version (for workstations). I just wanted to know what the difference between these two versions are, since they're both built on the NT kernel.

Pro will have more options, cost more, and be harder to use relative to personal. I don't think anyone has the details on it yet.

A unified operating system that is released in two versions? I hope this doesn't turn into another big screwup with different software releases needed for the different versions.

Scojo - once again wondering why he never switched to Linux
