How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System

The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a change engine oil light being turned on, reset the system.
After changing the engine oil, reset the system:
    1. Turn the ignition key to ON/RUN with the engine off.
    2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the change engine oil light is not on, the system is reset.
If the light comes on again and stays on for 30 seconds at the next ignition cycle, it did not reset. The system needs to be reset again.

The dealer didn't reset? What shoddy service for a dealer.

Might not have been the dealer? Also, he didn't say but It might not have been on when he went in for the change? And then they will forget a lot of times. I reset mine all the time because I change my Oil at 10k miles or so.

the light was not on when i left the shop .but i have it change every 3000 miles and that is under the factory set requirements.
infact when i get a new car i do the first oil change at 500 miles and then at miles 3000.

    Two good points.

But if the light is on, the forget part should not be acceptable at a dealer. Though it may happen and is forgivable.
