i took my tire in to have a plug put in it and the charged me $20. it was off the car and he just filled it with air and stuck a plug in it.this seems a bit costly but its been a while last time i needed a tire pluged i think i payed like $7.50 and it was still on the car.local shop at my corner not like they didnt know me .

I think that discount tire does it for free if you have one around.
$20?? Damn, I used to charge my customers $10 to patch the tire from the inside, and I would remove the tire for them. You got had. I don't trust plugs as much as patches, anyway. But Cheesy is about right, usually $5 to plug.
Yeah, I'm thinking I couldn't even get a shop around here to plug a tire--they will only patch because of liability. Plugging is easy to do; keep a set in the garage, or in the car too if you already have a portable compressor. Don't even have to remove the tire.
Hell, if I am going to assume that much liability, I'm gonna get AT LEAST $20...

i think i used to pay $15 at Discount Tire for them to plug a hole. If it puts my car back on the road and ensures my safety, $15 is more than reasonable if you ask me.
I plug it myself. Make sure you have gloves and the T-bar style rasper and hook thing. Last time I think it cost me 10 bucks several years ago. Now I just always have plugs and the compressor in my car.
I'll leave this stuff for Discount Tire myself.
