    Ugh....moved the crib today.

Well after nearly 6 months of my daughter sleeping in her crib in our bedroom, we finally moved her into the nursery today. This is a bit unsettling but I am sure it will become normal shortly.

When she was born we had her in a bassinet next to our bed. After 4 months she outgrew it and we were faced with the decision between putting her in the crib in her nursery or moving the crib to our bedroom. Do to a number of people coming to visit we decided it was best not to have to worry about inadvertently flashing a guest when running to take care of our daughter. We were also unhappy with the baby monitor's feedback. As such, the crib was placed in our bedroom until today.

Even though we have a huge bedroom and the crib was not in the way, I am happy not to have to worry about watching tv with the sound on. Oh, the little things in life.

So how far behind the curve were we on this?

Dont feel you are far behind on this at all. Its all a personal decision on what makes you and your SO comfortable. Kids dont come with books, experts are just people with opinions. We had ours sleeping in his own room from day 1. That was our decision. I felt it was best that at any given time there was only one of us up rather than keep two of us up by having the monster in there with us. Kids are all different and parents are too. All kids develop at different paces so just because yours walks or talks or doesnt faster than another one is just that. Give them love and it doesnt matter what anyone else says beucase as the old saying goes opinions are like a**holes everyone has one.

except for the first few days, we never had them in our room. but it's a personal decision so whatever works for you is good.

Patrick slept in our room until 5-6 months also - we were in a 3 br house until then. He was also breastfed and it made that easier at night.

When we got into the 4 br house, he had his own room, but he still co-slept many nights with us and we would move him after he was asleep (last feeding).

My first child co-slept in our bed until she was 19 months old, then she slept in a crib in our room until she was 29 months and she started to sleep in a toddler bed in our room, she moved to her own room when she was 5 year 4 months old. She is a happy well adjusted young lady.

Our second child co-slept in our bed until he was 2 years 7 months old, he then moved to a toddler bed in our room, he moved to his own room when he was 3 year 6 months old.

my youngest never co-slept at his choice, he didn't like it and wanted his own bed. He slept in our room until he was 10 months old and we moved him to his own room and he is much happier for it.

My husband and I were both in agreement that it worked best for us to have the children close, it made a lot of difference in the amount of sleep we got. With them in our room there was more sleeping going on cause with the nursing on demand I was not going to go get the kid he was going to have to bring me the child and then I would take them back to their bed, so it was better for us.

These are decisions that have to be made by you and your partner, it truly is no one business to say what you should or should not do.

I realize that it is a personal decision...I was just curious what other people had done.
