    Upgrading 802.11b

I'm running an old 802.11b wireless router. Having problems connecting newer devices such as ipod touch, new laptop, etc. I haven't updated the firmware in a while. I'm thinking its either a firmware issue or security issue. Any recommendations for wireless routers? If i do upgrade, I'd like to have NAS for movies and music.

Honestly, I'd at least upgrade to a new "G" router at the minimum... much faster, especially in a networked environment.

Netgear and Linksys are my fav brands....

I have been eyeing a Linksys WRT610N. They sometimes go for ~$90-100 shipped on ebay. Maybe a bit much for you, but I really like it.

I *highly* recommend the Linksys WRT54G-TM router flashed with DD-Wrt. It's a T-mobile branded Linksys router, but the neat thing is that is has 32MB of RAM, and can be re-flashed with a Linux based OS that will give you every feature you could ever hope to have and a bunch more that you've probably never heard of.

You can pick up the routers for dirt cheap - about $30-40, and the DD-WRT is a free download.

If you're lazy like me, you can buy pre-flashed routers on ebay for about $60 shipped. I just installed one to replace my 802.11b WAP & firewall, and I love it. Fast, easy to set up & has a silly amount of features. IM me if you want the name of the guy I bought from - quality stuff.
