I just received a Maxtor external 750 GB hard drive. I am in the process of transferring approx. 500 GB of data from another external hard drive to it.

Last night, I started the process. Within 10 minutes, the computer shut off and rebooted. I got a warning that the OS had recovered from a serious error. Well, it happened again this morning after about an hour.

I have never had this problem before when transferring data from one hard drive to another.
