Got some new speakers + shelving load rating question

edit - Just ordered a crt monitor mount (gabe's recco). We'll see how it looks in the end.

So my set of speakers finally came in after over a month of waiting (still have to wait another month for my sub ). The center channel speaker I have measures 12" H x 10.5" D x 25 7/16" W and weighs nearly 50lbs. I went to ikea to go find a wall shelf for it so I could place it above the tv, but I couldnt find anything with a high enough load rating and deep enough.

Anything DIY is pretty much out of the question as the only tools I have are a hammer and screwdriver set. Suggestions? thanks

Hey man, those look NICE. I can tell you from experience, those 850s need a bit of space from the back wall so the ports can breathe. (I can't see how much space they have.)

I have my center above the TV, and I can tell you it sounds MUCH better below the TV. I'm looking for some kind of stand so I can rase my TV a bit and then I'm going to put my center just below the TV.

The sub's worth the wait. I'm on a $600 backup and there's a HUGE downgrade difference.

I really think it depends on the room and the sound you prefer, but I think the rockets like 10-14 inches of room from the walls. Adjust to your preferences though: honestly.
I have mine at a slight toe-in (angle) to help keep my seat in the sweet spot. I sit about 14' away. I have my rear 450s pointing directly at me, instead of to the front. They're also at the side, instead of behind the seat.

I seriously hope you like them. I'm to the point where I prefer waiting for movies to come out on BluRay because of these bad-boys.

If you have a BR, go get Iron man and watch the opening Humvee scene once you get your sub in. (Or the final gunfight in Open Range.)

What you may want to look at instead is something you can put the TV on with room for the center speaker underneath it. IKEA things that I have seen are pretty flimsy and not good for supporting a lot of weight.

The back panel is usually two pieces- I left off the top portion on mine to allow access for cables and air. I actually have a Mission style Buffet I got from Overstock for mine (your speaker would not fit in it). That would help your speaker sound if it is open and not closed in back. These come unassembled but should include keys (tools) to put together. They still charged me their basic $2.95 or whatever shipping. (ordered a couple years ago).

Well, you already know that I'm no audiophile, but in short, they sound much better than the lowly tv speakers.

Looks great. I'd personally try to reduce the distance between the couch and the TV by at least 1/3, if you don't mind ending up with an awkward living room setup, that is.
