    Friend with Spot on Lung

A guy I know has been having recurrent pneumonia and upper respiratory infections. The latest episode warranted a Cat Scan for his lungs.

They discovered a spot last Friday on his lung and will diagnose fluid tomorrow to possibly find if it is malignant or not.

If it is cancer, why did he get it? He never smoked cigarettes. I don't think he ever tried weed. He has always had a dog and they shed. Could that cause it?

Cold be ANYTHING... exposure to asbestos, other airborne hazards, pollution, heredity, drinking Tab, who knows.

There are so many causes of cancer these days that unless you're doing something known to be high risk - smoking, removing asbestos, working around known carcinogens - it's no use guessing what may have caused it.

In any case, I hope it's nothing serious!

Asbestos is a good guess. Nasty stuff that can show up decades later.
As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals.
