Low voltage Warning - battery replacment

I'm getting a Low voltage Warning when I start up and I'm thinking I need to replace my battery, but am wondering if there is anything else that maybe the source of that warning. Also, is there anything I need to worry about when replacing the battery? Can I just take out the old and put in the new, or do I need to back anything up first?
    Thanks

Replace that CMOS battery that's on the motherboard. In the past I never had to back anything up, but if you have changed any of your BIOS settings you'll have to set them again after the replacement.

Well the Bios will usually get wiped out when the battery is taken out but certain latest motherboard can store settings

I wrote down all the BIOS settings and replaced the CMOS battery. All the BIOS settings were unchanged, and I guarantee that had I not written them down they would have all been changed and screwed up. Thanks for the thoughts on the topic.
