Linux in VM on Windows 7

Anyone have any luck installing a Linux Distro on Windows 7 in Virtual PC 2007 (or any of VM program). I tried with VMWare Player and Workstation and got an error just on booting the Linux iso that I downloaded (tried Fedora, opensuse, debain). I know my virtualization is setup on my machine in general as I have XP running fine in Virtual PC 2007.

Anyone have any tricks to do this? What VM program works best? Are their certain distros that work best? I plan on working on this all day Sunday so anything you can give me to point me in the right direction would be great! THANKS!

I have Ubuntu running on Win7 using Virtual Box and it works like a champ. No tricks or anything, just a normal install.

Been using VirtualBox off of your suggestion and I love it. Thanks!
