    Hi Guys,

    I am running windows 98 on a pentium 3 550 with 256 MB RAM.
Suddenly I find that when i try to install a new program ( in this case CorelDraw10) windows does not load and i get the error:
    While initialising device IOS:
error: real mode memory allocation failure.

Somthing changes in the registry i guess, coz i can go to an archived version of the registry and everything is fine.
(the program doent work of course)
The bootlog file indicates that most of my fonts are not loading. I dont know if that is relevant but i mention it anyway.
I would really appreciate if anyone could suggest any suggestions to fix this.

    Thanks

Does the error happen when you install or when you reboot?
Shall we buy a new guitar?
Shall we drive a more powerful car?

    Hi!

The installation works fine. I get the error the first time I try to reboot the computer after installation. Thanks for your time.

Does this happen for every program you install?

This may sound strange, but you could have some flaky memory. Try removing/swapping some DIMMS and see if anything changes.
Oh, and what is the last line in your bootlog file?
Shall we buy a new guitar?
Shall we drive a more powerful car?

    Hi Guys,

I may have fixed the problem. I diabled the SB16 emulation drivers and now everything is OK. I have no idea why this works or will work for anyone else faced with the same problem but no harm trying this if you get the same error. I hope that this probelm is fixed for good.
