My Maxtor harddrive got messed up in a power surge the other day.. Bios sees it but i can't get to it to save the information... Any ideas on it or where to get the information recovered at an affordale price?
    Thanks

ewww... Sorry to hear that. Data recovery is VERY expensive and probably not worth it to you. You should take it to your friend's place and see if only the boot sector is messed up. If not, you might be out of luck.

For data recovery, you're looking at about $500-$1000 to have someone do it. Probably not worth it to you unless you've got some really important stuff on there.

You might try picking up a copy of Norton Utilities if you want to try recovering it yourself.

    Good luck!
