No but I would buy it 2-3 months later (after a price drop or two).

Yea, im with Markel, but now I think sprint gives me the discount every year. So I should always be able to get the new Palm phone...I cant wait for WebOS 2.0 and whatever new hardware they release

The whole internet connected phone, need to be in touch with everyone every second via texting/internet every second makes no sense to me. My kids drive me nuts with this apparent need, although they deny it. In other words I just need a phone, and as long as it works I'm happy.
On another note, my Dad asked me why I don't have more money saved. We make more money on a dollar basis, without inflation, than he did as a lawyer when I was a kid. I pointed out he wasn't paying for us to have stupid ass phones, didn't pay for useless TV, and didn't have an internet bill every month. I actually am fairly ticked off that I have myself convinced that I need this crap. TV being the worst. I do need CNBC for my work, but beyond that cable TV is probably worse than the big networks for repeating the same shows over, and over , and over again with no worthwhile new content, yet I pay.
I need to go give myself a NCIS, Gibbs head slap, oh crap a TV reference, I'm watching too much. lol

my work gives me my phone, so i take what they give me and i like it....

of course, they're trying to wean me off making personal calls on that thing, so that sucks too... i may need to get my own personal one AND carry a work one as well...

Ditch the cable bill. Its rather easy to do, and your kids probably watch tv online already anyway. Youd be surprised how many channels you get with digital broadcast.

If you live close enough you can see if a neighbor wants to share the cost of an internet connection (I might do that soon as my sister lives in the same building as me)

And depending on the age of the kids...make them pay for the cell themselves.

I opted to have them reimburse me for my personal cell, as they pay the entire monthly bill, and its less hassel when i want a new phone. Perhaps you can work something like that out? Have them reimburse you monthly for whatever the current bill is, and just use a personal cell for work. It'll probably be cheaper for you that way.

My company doesn't allow people to buy their own phone & then expense it - too many different configurations, and the Android still doesn't know how to deal with the security policy set on our Exchange server.

But I agree, there's all sort of crap I pay monthly for that I don't necessarily need - Netflix AND cable, cell phones for the kids, 18Mb internet connection, etc. It's easy to get out of hand.

nope. there were some higher ups who wanted an iphone (company only does blackberry), so... they made it so that they can get their exchange stuff in their iphone, but they don't get any reimbursement.

as that thing trickled down, it's been described as, you can get any cell phone that you want, and you'll have the "privilege" of connecting to the corporate network...

    right.. privilege...
