I don't know about you, but I had a pretty nice weekend.
Saturday involved Sammy's home coming dance at school, while Stella had a birthday party to go to, and I had to play Civ V. Yes, [i]had to[/b].
The one hitch was dinner. See some parents offered to take the kids out to eat and then to the dance, but didn't let anyone know that the kids would have to pay for it. Luckily, we gave Sammy some cash, so she was good, but some other kids had nothing and Sammy ended up paying for 3 others, leaving her with no money for the dance. Now, I would have no problem with, "hey, we are going to take the kids out, have them bring some money," and clearly, we were prepared for it anyway because that's how we roll, but I'm a little annoyed that it wasn't up front and some kids would have been left in a lurch. I mean, maybe it's just me but if you invite someone out to eat, you pay or you state it up front that you aren't.
But despite that, it was a good day.
Sunday was a really nice day outside, so I trimmed up some hedges. Also replaced a 18 year old emerson TV that was starting to finally die - not to mention it's 19 inch screen displayed 14 inch images with the digital tuner, and picked up a cheap 32 inch LCD/DVD combo to replace it with. My goal is to slap the Wii on it and turn it into a Netflix streamer. Also played some more Civ V. Gandhi in the history books may be a peaceful man, but my Gandhi only has two more guys to destroy before he rules the world.
However, the one downside to Sunday was the worrying click of the hard drive in my satellite DVR. It's still working so far, but I don't think it's long for the world.
Anyway, there were some hickups, but it was mostly a great weekend. For me, anyway.
You go have a day.
