    verizon vs at&t speeds

    hey folks,

just for fun, i tested my coworker's at&t network (via speedtest.net's app on her iphone) with my verizon network (via the same app on my droid).

i noticed my ping results were considerably lower (~200ms vs her ~700ms). but the overall download and upload speeds were similar. she was complaining about her network speeds really slow on her phone. any ideas what could be causing the discrepancy?

latency is a bigger issue with lots of small files (websites)
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

Maybe we can learn to be just like him.

Processor speed can have an effect on download speed as well. I was watching some videos of the nexus one versus the iphone 3GS. the nexus one (on t-mobile) was smoking the iphone on at&t, which is obviously faster than t-mobile. This probably isn't an issue with your comparison unless your coworker is using the iphone 4 (1ghz) vs the droid (600mhz underclocked to 550)
