    Groaty Dick

    http://www.vitalrecipe.com/view/5579...ith-floyd-bbc/

I put some groaty dick in the oven a little bit ago (~4am).

There are various recipes online and there doesn't seem to be any strict formula. I did:
    • 1/2lb stew beef
    • 1 leek
    • 1 onion
    • sprinkle of salt
    • 20oz beef stock
    • Cooked at 150F for 16hrs.

Will report back in 16hrs. :dinner:

Dick has been cooking for 14hrs at 150F. I took a peek and the meat is still pink. I'm wondering if my oven is accurate at such a low temp, maybe it is lower than 150F. I'm jacking it up to 350F for an hour or two because I want to bake some potatoes.

Hey, this stuff is pretty good. Gummy stewed grain, mellow onion/leek cooked into oblivion, tender chunks of beef. No idea if it really needs to cook so long at so low a temp, though. Might be a good candidate for the crock pot.

    I recommend Groaty Dick.

When I saw the name, I wondered if it was somehow related to gooey duck.

Ha, that guy is quite a character. At first he came off as annoying, but his demeanor kinda grows on you and it eventually became oddly fitting for a cooking show. I need to watch more British cooking shows.

A "gooey duck", or geoduck -- a large saltwater clam.

Wow. I never imagined that "hung like a clam" could be a compliment.
