    Dishwasher soap?

I recently moved to a new apartment. For the first time in my life I have a dishwasher, so I'm looking for recommends on what type/ brand of soap is good. Anyone have a favorite? TIA

Whatever you get, my wife found out if you toss in regular white vinegar right into the dishwasher itself, it makes the dishes have that nice squeeky clean feeling...and no water spots to boot.

i got my in-laws those little pouches, and they seem to do a lot better job than the powder stuff I had.

Are those the little Cascade pouches? The previous tenant left a few of them under the sink. I used one the other day when I ran the thing for the first time.

Thanks for the vinegar tip GG! Dishes in the first load had some white chalky residue, maybe vinegar will clear it up.

So the vinegar thing really worked well! I put maybe a cup of it in the bottom of the washer before starting a cycle and the white chalky stuff went away completely.

I recently got some Method dishwasher soap at Target. It's like a giant pellet. I find they work really well. I tried one without any vinegar and there wasn't any chalky stuff. Thumbs up.

It got my mouse pad clean too!

I'm with Nickel but find that the elimination of phosphates from the detergents have had an adverse impact on all dishwasher cleaners.
