I usually do the traditional thing and poke holes in my potatoes before I bake 'em. I've always suspected this was just an urban legend, so this time around I put 6 potatoes in the oven w-out bothering to poke holes in 'em. One of them actually burst and spewed potato guts all over my oven!!! Whoa!!!
So for my fellow skeptics out there in internet-land, heed this personal advice: POKE YER TATERS!!! They will indeed explode!

Glad to hear my suspicions are confirmed. My wife's grandmother (who lived her life like a princess and never did much for herself) went to microwave a baked potato and complained that every one she did exploded. It dawned on me later that she probably never bothered to poke holes in them.
