I tried on a couple other browsers and it's not there. Work makes me route through an outdated Firefox install to browse.

So the reputation thing. How is this visible to every one? And how can we abuse it? Just like the infraction ability, say I want to disapprove of the post...does the post become fainter, bolder, pushed down, pushed up, or require some additional step to view due to low rating...etc

The reputation system is mostly used in conjunction with some other website features. It can be set up to simply be a vanity thing or it can be set up so that users witha certain reputation points get "promoted." Promotions can be as superficial as simply getting a few vanity privileges all the way to becoming a super moderator. It just depends on how it's set up. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it as a simple vanity feature. Ill move up from there once I figure it out completely.

I have noticed that some statistics seem to keep growing:

Also, the image embedding via the "Insert Image" doesn't seem to be working.

Ah yes. Those numbers are quite inflated. One of the more annoying problems with the new software was that the login session would timeout too quickly, requiring us to relogin multiple times a day. We got sick of it and make the timeout 10,000,000 seconds. The side effect of that is that the system considers anyone who even looked at the site as currently on. Hopefully we'll find a way to extend the login session without overextending the cookie.

The embed images is turned off for now because we don't have unlimited bandwidth and hard drive space. For now I would recommend something like http://imgur.com/

Added a couple really quick. Be warned. They aren't pretty and refined yet.

Hey guys, sorry about the outage yesterday and most of today. Here's what happened:

Basically vBulletin's CMS loves to save everything into the database including images and cache. We were on a shared server space and our queries got to be too much that it was bringing down SQL and affecting the performance of of other sites. The admins had to shut us down and we opted to move to a dedicated server. The move took a long time because of the sheer amount of data we have (over 1 million rows). When bringing the site back up, the admins forgot that they had previously renamed the VBSEO folder to troubleshoot some problems. Because of this, when the site was migrated, nothing would load. By this time the original admin's shift had ended and another admin was on the task. He/she thought it was a migration error and tried transferring it over 1 or 2 more times over, which caused more delays.

By then I had remembered the original admin saying that he renamed the VBSEO folder, so I renamed it back and the site seemed to work... until we got another database error. That took a while to fix and when it was brought up, our dev quickly moved the caching system from the DB to files. Hopefully it'll be more stable now. *CROSS FINGERS*

I finally figured out the server issue. All I had to do was turn off a single module.

Apparently VBSEO (a 3rd party SEO software designed specifically for vBulletin) and vB 4.1.12 (the latest version of vBulletin) don't like each other.

I still can't get directly to the forums. I have tried direct linking, which worked even on the new site until recently..

And I've tried the nav button at the time. I have to get here through roundabout ways or it can't be found. It looks like the error is because nothing is actually in /forums/ or /forum/ anymore.. Looking at this threads URL It seems to be at /public_html/ (Which isn't actually a correct placement for a forum.. So maybe they placed it incorrectly it in the migration?)

Yeah, the SEO is all messed up. We had certain things set and then we installed VBSEO, which rewrote all the links. Then we uninstalled VBSEO because of the issues it was causing and now the links went all weird on us.

Could use a link at the bottom of the page to return to the index of the forum you are currently browsing (or even change from one section to another)

I've noticed improvements with speed and with the search functionality for deals over the last week or so, and that is great. However, it would be really nice for the search box on the deals page to just filter the deals by the criteria rather than take you to a forum results page. You lose the ability to just scroll down the page to see the full details of each deal (i.e. you have to click on each one to get the details). It's better than it used to be before a week ago (i.e. search for "dell" -> see results list -> click on a result -> see thread with link to deal -> click on link -> finally see full deal details), but still not as pleasant as it was before the new system.

    So we got hacked earlier?
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

    Hi, thanks for registering.

You are absolutely correct about the search function. It is not even close to where it should be. vBulletin's CMS is a little weird and not nearly as robust as we need it to be. We are currently looking to fix it and we are simultaneously looking into other options (just in case it comes to that).

The blog link is full of spam. It goes on for pages and pages. Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I was thinking along the same lines. The spam filters don't seem to be working for the blog.

Leon, News posting seems to be completely borked for me. All the tools are gone and everything comes out in one continuous paragraph.
