Well, I finally purchased online from Staples recently. I bought TurboTax Deluxe and State($75.49) plus two other items and used the $30 off $100 coupon which basically gave me the other two items for $3.29. Then of course there are the 2 quicken rebates totalling $39.95. So the total comes to $38.83.
Staples, however, screwed up the delivery for two days despite the fact I live about 3 miles from the store. The first day the delivery was a no show and the second day it was reported as a refused delivery, and therefore the order cancelled...I still want to know who refused my delivery.
So I called customer service for the second time and told the service rep my woes. He placed a new order. I offhandedly mentioned that I get UPS deliveries and USPS deliveries frequently with almost all deliveries getting through and, if not, a note always left, so he offered to have my order sent UPS, to which I readily agreed. And so my new order arrived promptly the next day. Which made me happy.
Then 20 days later I checked my bank account online and found that although I was charged $78.78, I was creditted $111.18,
$32.40 more than I was charged. So being the good citizen that I am, I called customer service to report it to them. And the most amazing thing happened. The rep looked at my account and saw the problems I had and said "Don't worry, keep the extra as an additional discount for your troubles."
So the total on my order, after rebates will now be $6.43. Most amazing.
