I am wanting to hook up a Dish Network or DirecTV system into my home. I only need to have the ability to watch one program at a time.
However, I want to be able to watch the program in two separate rooms and to control the channels from each room. I have seen a lot of
info on setting up a system to watch two separate programs (requiring the dual satellite dish and a $5/mo. charge), but none on splitting
the signal to two different tv's.

    Questions:

    1) Can this be done with simply a basic dish plus two receivers?

    2) Do I have to pay the $5/mo. fee?

I have a Sony a55 dss system and it has an rf remote and an antenna for the unit. I.e., the remote works on radio frequency instead of infrared. It also has 2 video outputs, so this would fit your bill perfectly. I can (and have) used the remote from another room and it works perfectly. Not to mention the a55 has an optical digital out for Dolby 5.1 surround... A bargain at $199. I suggest you check the lower priced units for the rf remote if Dolby isn't important to you.
