Dual boot WinME and Win98SE

Any one know if this is possible? if so how can it be done. thanks

You can also use two hard drives, one with 98, the other with ME (or any two OSes for that matter). Just set the BIOS to boot from either the C or D drive. Poor mans dual-boot.

do you mean 2 physical hard drives, or 2 partitions. because i couldnt get it to work on 2 partitions. or maybe i just missed something. when i installed winme it would scan for another windows installation and said that i couldnt upgrade, the only way it would let me install is to format the old windows installation.

good question, i guess the answer is cuz i like to do stupid things. im sure i got other reasons some where, but thats the best one. if you look behind my computer you might understand.

Yes, you can do this.

If you want to dual boot two OSes on two partitions of the same hard drive, one of the partitions needs to be hidden, and one active at all times.

Basically, if you install one OS, then hide that partition, you can install the other OS on the other partition. When you want to switch back and forth, you just hide/activate the alternate partition.

If both partitions are active (meaning you can change your command prompt between them without any magic), then you can't install both OSes.

Now you are asking.. "how do I hide/activate a partition?" I don't actually know how to do it without some third party software. I use a tool called "boot magic" which asks you at boot time which partition you want to boot from. It's pretty handy.
