Thread: Red Hot HP CD-RW and RIO 500 deal!!!

  1. #1
    HP site link

This may have been posted before and if so sorry, but the deal is so damn hot someone should grab this. Seeing that the RIO alone goes for well over 200 and the CD-RW is about 160-180 other places on the net.

If you're *real* fast and bought one before the end of the month, do ya think you'd be able to cash in on the $50 rebate, too?

And as far as the whole financing thing is concerned, that's common across the whole of HP's site. For example, I'm looking at a desktop PC that costs $1750 which can be financed at $54.62/month. I'm pretty sure you can pay outright when you check out...

    Or..

Get the $50 rebate, auction the rio on ebay for maybe $120, buy compgeeks GOOD cd/mp3 player for $70 and make out with a net of $100.

Crap! They are out of stock. That looked like a sweet one too. I was salivating until I looked at the site.

Did anyone try to do a buy and return at a B&M to get the receipt for the $50 rebate? I tried but I couldn't find a CC, Frys or BB that had it in stock. Could someone post a scan of their receipt?

    Did anyone elses reciept say,

    Items ordered: Qty Price
    Digital 1 $193.00
    HP CD-R Recordable Media 1 $6.00
    subtotal $199.00

That is what I got on my receipt when ordering one. The HP rep said that it should be the right thing.

My receipt said the same thing. For the rebate I just printed out a copy of HP web site page showing the 2 products in the bundle and sent my receipt along with it. I don't see how they can refuse the rebate. There are no stipulations on the form that state how you have to buy it or for how much. In the end, I'll get the rebate even if I have to harass them.

This is back in stock if anyone wants it. There is another rebate, but it says retail box only. It's still a good deal, but it's not great without the rebate.

I just got mines today. (One day later). It has two retail box items inside!!!!! This is a really great deal! Where do you find the new rebate?

You got retail boxes for both inside? I guess you'd be able to get the rebate. Anybody know for sure?

    Edit:

Link might not work...try from here

I'm pretty sure that's how they all are. I don't see why I would get retail boxes and someone else not. I'll be able to confirm it on Monday, I supposedly ordered two sets due to a web page error. I don't know if the rebate will work, because the receipt in the shipment doesn't say RIO anywhere, and my web receipt says "Digital" as the product description. Thanks

This hot deal is probably local to you today!! CompUSA has this exact same item (9150i + Rio 500) for $149. I picked up 2 of them and left the last one on the shelf.

Since the Rio 500 rebate expired 3/31, this is just as good or better than the HP deal (especially if you had to pay tax AND shipping before). If you want one, you should head out there this morning.

edit.... hmmm I see the rebate on the Rio 500 was extended in the post above. My receipts only say "HP CD-RW" and nothing about the Rio. I might try sending for it anyways.

Hey paulc, what I would do is send in the sale ad along with the Rio rebate since that shows what you bought. I've done that in the past. No guarantees though. I sent one in myself a couple weeks ago and just printed out the web page on HP's shopping site which shows what was in the combo. As far as I'm concerned, if it's purchased in a store than it's a retail purchase. If Rio denies me my rebate I'll just raise enough cane until they cave in.
