Whats a good program for making animated gifs?

anyone know of a good program for making animated gifs? or is there a way to make them without a program? thanks for any help

Well, I use Adobe Imageready which comes packed with Photoshop 5 and above. It's great - very easy to use since it's so much like Photoshop.

Before I got into Photshop however, I used primarily Microsoft Gif Composer which was free with whatever POS graphics program that used to come with Frontpage '98. That was also a very easy, althought limited, program.

Another option is called Gif Construction Set, available as shareware. As far as I know it's still out and about, so check for that too.

You could probably try checking out some usenet newsgroups (groups.google.com) and search for any of the above and see what turns up.

Paint Shop Pro also comes with Animation Shop. Very easy to use.

thanks, i think im gonna try to use imageready if its on photoshop 6.
