I just bought a Toshiba 40H80 (HD widescreen) in November. A few days ago I was watching Rainman, and the picture just imploded or something. Now, it won't come on half the time, and when it does, I have these annoying curved zig-zag lines going through the picture.
Three days ago, I called Toshiba and was informed that there are no authorized service centers in my town (which I already knew), and the CSR said she would find someone in a nearby town who can fix it. Well, when I called the guy she told me about, after I told him the model number he said:
"There should be two letters in front of it...what are they?"
And I said, "There are no letters.....it is just 40H80".
He came back with, "Oh, is that one of those HDTV's"?
"Yes, it is"
"Wow, I have never worked on one of those before."
So anyway, this guy is coming out to my house to work on my tv that I saved for like 3 months to buy, and he doesn't even know what he is doing! Anyway, wish me luck, because this guy is probably going to screw my tv up even more than it already is.

LOL. That's funny.
But seriously, I hope your expensive tv will be fixed.
