OK, what are the good recent sleepers? I though Pitch Black was a rocking flick, but not a lot of people liked it. What else is out there that is good, but not that popular? I hate going to the video store & seeing the empty shelves where the movies I want to see are supposed to be. I need a few backups that no one knows about....

The Tao of Steve was really good.
    Office Space is hilarious.

I loved Office Space - I about popped a vain laughing at that - it's too true. I especially loved when they took the printer out to an empty field and went medieval on it...

been thinking of renting pitch black, but i didn't want to throw my $4.10 to blockbuster blindly. i think i'll check it out..

i thought "x-men" was pretty cool.. "hollow man" blew. "what lies beneath" was really quite good - i was surprised. those are my latest rentals.

hrmm.. or just go out and keep watching "crouching tiger.." once that hits DVD, i think i'll be buying a player

    Okay, I'm a girl, but...

Anna & The King was excellent... I honestly didn't think I'd like it, but I started watching and it just drew me in. It was a great movie.

I agree, Office Space was a great movie. Another that didn't get huge billing was Final Destination. Good movie with some freaky scenes.

I thought The Sixth Sense was the most boring movie ever!!!!! I dont know how the hell it became popular, except for the last 10 min it was so slow.

I just saw "The Game" with Michael Douglas. Pretty good flick. Kinda disturbing though. I don't know if this is a 'sleeper', but I never heard of it until it came out on dvd.

I had forgotten about 'The Game'. That movie was excellent - if you haven't seen it, go rent it.

Not a sleeper, but a fantastic movie:

    Usual Suspects

I've seen it about 712 times, and I love it everytime I see it.

I thought that Cast Away was a sleeper! I was in the theater and started falling a sleep.

watch SHALLOW GRAVE. It's the movie Danny Boyle directed right before he became famous with Trainsoptting. It stars Ewen Mcgregor. It's a great suspense/murder mystery/black comedy with all the unpredictable plot twists you've come to expect from British cinema.

    very cool!

Ok does a Sleeper mean that it didn't do well in the theatres but that it was a kick ass flick, or is it a movie that was boring in the theatres and put you to sleep? Whatever it is, one of my favorite movies of all time that didn't do that well in the theatres(I'm not for sure tho) was GATTACA. Uma baby, you make me feel all tingly

I whole heartedly agree with EsDeeLoco, GATTACA was a great movie. All the guys had lumps in their throats and all the women were at the least crying, some where actually bawling. Wonderful movie, sorta like watching a German movie from the old days cause of the sephia tone. Very surreal in some ways, I just loved that movie. Excuse me, I need the find the DVD now.
    Off in La La Land

What do you mean by Sleeper movie?
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

Maybe we can learn to be just like him.

A sleeper movie is one that didn't do well on the big screen but was a great movie anyway.
