Rollhard system from Deals page: whaddya think installation would run?

I'm intrigued by the alarm system, and would like to subscribe to their newsletter.

But what do you guys figure installation would be? And would any audio sound place be able to do it properly?

I'm sure any sound audio place would do it. Labor would probably be around $75 to $125. I tried a search for that alarm and couldn't find it anywhere else. Anyone see it other places to compair price and such?

a couple things to consider:

this thing will not make your non-power door locks become power door locks

i wanted to get it an install it myself, but i ain't got the cash right now.

What I wanna know is how big is the handheld unit. It looks like it must be the size of a small phone, but then again, I have no frame of reference.

It wouldn't be cool to be lugging around something the size of another startac all over the place.

It depends on ur car. Hondas are comparable to plug and play while jeeps and some other cars need extra relays all over the place. # of doors are also a factor.

I talked to the place earlier today, he told me that installation about the same as a similar viper system.

According to the piccy at rollhard, that's actual size...if that's true, then it's a fair bit bigger than a standard car alarm remote once you take the antenna into consideration.

Also, I wonder what the range on that thing is?

finally someone invent that kinda of remote... the features sound so sweet... but damn i aready got a working alarm.... no point of spending more money that I dont need to spend... next time..

for all of the specs. I would definitely like this as my latest toy. The dimensions are 72(h) x 40.5(w) x 18.5(d) mm. Now that's small! Anyone know which one is better, the Aladdin or the CompuStar CST-2000AS?

Since I have had both the Compustar and the Aladdin, I can probably help you guys out...
My aladdin controller is 2.75 inches tall, not including antenna, so you can factor that into the picture on the deals page. Also, it is a lil over half and inch thick.
Also... the compustar sucks, it set me back more than the aladdin, doesn't respond, and fries on me. (I had a shop install it for me)
Anyway, since it's just so cool looking, and doesn't f**k up like the compustar, you can guess what's in my car...

Roger, You would be a great asset in all of the forums I have been reading about the alarms. Everyone has only one of them and can't compare them side by side. I have a couple of questions about the Aladdin if you don't mind.

1)Is it true that the US version is limited to 1000ft range? And have you had any problems with the range?
2)Is it true that you can't get the temp monitor with the US version?
3)What color is the backlight, some people said it was green, unlike the blue advertised.
4)How much was installation?

1. My version (US) has a range of 1/4 mile, but obviously does better in open area (mall), though obstacles decrease the range slightly.
2. Yeah, this made me sad too. The reason is that SEC regulations do not permit the remote to transfer to the car.
3. It's just a white light, not indiglo or anything.
4. For me, it was $150, with remote start. (It would probably be cheaper without that)

its pretty high-tech and relatively new, and i doubt if its popular here in the east coast yet. That being said, i dont think a regular installer would be familiar with it, and may not know how to properly install it (keyword being properly...) From what i was told though, it's pretty easy to install with the manual. I personally know the guy who owns the website and runs the business, and from what he tells me its not going to be a big do-it-yourself job....

Actually, a guy in the office ordered one. Turns out when he called (last week), the guy said he only had 9 left from the 2500 he had a month ago. The stock was supposed to last through the summer! Oh well...

Anyway, I'm interested to see how well it works.

ziggie216 u could always add on a millenium fx car monitor from crimestoppers, its the size of a pager, with up tp a 2 mile range and monitors ur car. Best of all it can be found on the web for $79.

Something has always puzzled me about these pagers and alarms -- What do you do if it goes off?

I mean if INeedAVacation was stealing my car, I would be happy to grab a lead pipe and knock him silly (JUST KIDDING!) but what if I get there and there are a bunch of gang members? I could easily get my butt kicked and they would still steal my car.

On the other hand if I was in the mall and grabbed a security guard and dragged him along to help me beat of the robbers, what if it was just a false alarm or an animal? Wouldn't I be in trouble just like if a business burglar alarm makes a false alarm?

Infinti Q45's come with a standard passive alarm already, but I might consider this one too if it has additional usefullness.
