Thread: What to do in Las Vegas and area

What to do in Las Vegas (and area)?

I am going to Las Vegas, but am not a gambler. What things there are fun to do that aren't gambling? I hear there is a Star Trek Experience, a Madame Tausads (spelling?) wax museum and a water show that are good. And I want to go to the Hoover Dam, but I don't know what else to do. So if anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

    Thanks,

Vegas is Awesome! There are so many things to do. You like the Blue Man Group? Go see their show @ the Luxor. The Bellagio has a cool water show every 15 min right in front of the Hotel. The Mirage has a show every 30 min in front, and Treasure Island has one ever hour or two at night. Stop by the Coke museum and the M&M one too. Make sure you visit most of the hotels on the strip. They all have at least one fun thing to do inside. I could go on abotu Vegas for hrs, but alas, it's skoo time...

Yup. Blue Man Group. I think that's ur best bet.

I've seen Blue Man Group already. It's absolutely wonderful. I was in the front row so I got covered with that toiletpaper type material (luckily no paint).

    I disagree...

Blue Man Group are a close second to Mystere, over at Treasure Is. That's probably the best produced live act I've seen, and I've seen a lot!

If you're looking for a real meatmarket, definitely go to the Hard Rock. Most people don't get over there, but there are the best looking people, mostly looking to get it on. The club there is also among the best.

The Coke and M&M places are good daytime pastimes.

And as revolting as it might sound, you HAVE to do a casino buffet. I like the one at Ceasers, although the Mirage ain't bad either, and I think it's less expensive.

    was in LV in February.

Places that I had a good time at were The Stratosphere, The Rum Jungle Bar in Mandalay Bay (House of Blues is here also)and the Rio.

I went to the bar for the Star Trek thing, wasn't that impressed. Then again I was there in the afternoon, the party probably gets started at night. This is at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Things to do in Vegas (aside from gambling)
    1) Shopping... since things are a little expensive, window shopping is just as much fun, like at the Venetian or Caesar's....
    2) Hotel-seeing. It'll take you at least a couple of hours to walk up and down the strip and check out all the hotels. From Caesar's down to Mandalay Bay. If you stop to take pictures and stuff, it'll take you quite a few hours. The last time I went with friends from outta town, it took us about 5 hours and 3 rolls of film.
    3) Eating... Go to as many buffets as you can. And don't go for the $5 all u can eats. Go to the nicer hotels. Bellagio has a really good buffet, as do the other buffets mentioned before.
    4) See shows... As mentioned by other people, the shows in Vegas are the best. Blue Man Group and Cirque Du Soleil:Mystere are among the top selling shows. Best to make bookings in advance. There's a variety of shows at the major hotels, there's something for everybody.. =)

I can't wait to go again. Probably next month!!!

Hope you have a great time....

    yeah KENO!!

when i went to vegas, we had like NO MONEY!! I drove cross country to cause i was going to stay with a friend who lived in CA for the summer, and since we had been on the road for over two weeks at this point, most of the party money had been used . (that, plus the fact that i bent my sister's atm card ) so, anyway, we get to vegas, and we go out gambling, with our collective 100 bucks, and lose. the worst thing was that i lost a big part of it playing roulette, and then, when the drink girl would come around, i would be betting, and she would walk right past me. so i ddint' even get any free drinks.

so now we're down to like, 15 bucks, so we go and buy ourselves a drink. we are sitting at the bar, and my sis says "what's KENO" and i said, "oh, it's fun, it's like the lottery! lets play $1 each." so we go and sit down at the 25c keno machine, and i put my doller in, and hit two credits by mistake. so i'm thinking, that's 25c i'll never see again. then i put the 10 numbers in. and then, i hit like 8 of them!!! 8!!!! i made over a hundred bucks!!!

    it was soooooooooo cool.

    i love keno.

i'd rather be down the shore
OH SNAP! guess where I am?

I was living down the jersey shore before Jersey Shore.

How does anyone even watch that show???

styleee: FYI, from the day KENO was made, no one has hit the jackpot. Statistically its a very very very very very small chance. Stick to Blackjack were your odds are better

like, i made 240% of what i put in!!

If you're a guy then one place in Vegas that you should try and remember is Slots O Fun. In case you ever lose your ass its a great place to get some grub and beer for cheap. $.75 heinekens and foot long hotdogs. I say if youre a guy because I can only verify that guys like this kind of sustenance but if you're a lady and like it, then I give you props.

Oh yeah and tables are cheaper there, like $2 minimums.

and how far in advance should I boof the tickets. And how much are they???

They're there pretty permenantly. Mystere and O both have customized theaters in their respective hotels, as does BMG, so methinks.

You should try and book about a month in advance. Tix go for about $120(?).

Blue Man group is somewhat permenantly there. I know it's in Chicago, Boston, and New York. From what I understand the tickets in Las Vegas are the most expensive ($90-$100) I believe it is cheaper at the other locations.

Circ du Soleil is also around $100.
