An MP3 player???
"This ain't no burger flippin job!"
You know all these large storaing mp3 players are still obsolete in my mind. Yes, they can hold gigs of your favorite mp3s, but there are other downfalls to them. The big thing is battery consumption. I don't know about you but batteries are not that cheap for a decent brand. The nomad I think has 10 hours of play time.. What the hell is that? Not even half a days worth. It's a lot of time, but you just lost about $5 in batteries. So, let's say you're a TRUE mp3 junkie; that's ~$10/day and ~$300/month! But hey, most of us have lives and don't listen to mp3s 24/7.. but let's day two hours a day then. $5/week, $25/month. Still expensive in my eyes. Hopefully (if there isn't already one) the companies that produce these mp3 players will make one that has a lithium battery that's rechargable. Now that's something to invest in. But for now, i'll stick to my 4.1lb IBM 560X laptop, which is not only a whole computer, but also a rechargable mp3 player in it's self. Some of you will complain it's too big, but it fits my life style just as these portable mp3 storage devices fit yours. But for more ease on my wallet this works. I'm not a freak who totes my laptop place to place listening to mp3s, but on a ride home from work on the train it's nice to have it stored away and have the headphones plugged into the stereo out jack in the laptop, and play the selected playlist that I setup beforehand. Well, just my two cents.
Or, you can just buy rechargeable batteries. Problem solved.
Haha, people say that, but you and I both know about 75% of the people using this product won't.
Your math works.. considering someone will listen to the thing THAT much.. but I'm SURE they have a wall plug adapter that comes along with it.
If you're not going to use it for portability what's the point then? Just use your computer if you plan on using an outlet.
humm, well, considering the NOMAD JukeBOX comes with to sets of 4 batteries, you'll be all set:
1 set: Ni-MH.
1 set: Ni-Cad.
the new Nomad Jukebox C ("value edition" - no headphones, case etc) comes with one set of 4 rechargeable batteries. I'm not sure if their Ni-Cad, or Ni-MH.
uhuh, I work for the company.

How about if you roamed about a building (home/office/etc) every few hours?
Don't knock on things just because you don't have any use for them.![]()
he IS entitled to his opinion.. and he was only bringing up something to think about if someone's considering buying one of these things. i thought it was a good point, and i agree with it. in addition to what he said, i wouldn't buy one cuz i think the mp3/cd players are a lot better. they hold a decent amount, granted, not as much as the nomad, but what's wrong with switching a few cds? plus, you can use it in your car. and its cheaper! you can't listen to 6 gigs of mp3s at one time anyway, so it makes more sense to me to buy one of the cd/mp3 players instead of an mp3 player.Originally posted by helius

Open season is only declared when people start pulling statistics/statements out of their asses.
yeah i knew you were going to say something like that.. the only reason i put that in about him being entitled to his opinion is that you said "Don't knock on things just because you don't have any use for them." his opinion is to knock things, and you said don't do that. haha that prob makes no sense, but oh well. forget it. this is so dumb anyway. why does everyone have to argue all the time? can't we just be friends?Originally posted by helius

Actually I want that nomad too, just dont have any money for it right now :-(
I dont know if any of you knew this or not, but if the 6GB's isnt enough, you can always take that HD out, and insert a 20GB HD. 20GIGS of MP3's!!! That's more than I have on my computer!! http://www.tomshardware.com has information on how to do it if anyone's interested.
