    Game Boy Advance

    MSRP $99.99
Same height as a game boy color, but wider.
    More colors and better resolution.

Looks good, though I haven't owned a handheld since the original game boy.

Though at $100, I might just consider getting a PSone and carry that...heheheh...

Another plus on the new gameboy is Sega is making games for it! Sonic the Hog will be on of the first they do for it. There will also be a kick but Mario game on it too when it comes out.

I may have to get one myself!

They already released it in Japan and first day sales shot past first days sales on the PS2 out there! This might be a must have item.

Mind you he's talking about the screen folks. The actual unit is much smaller than a color gameboy. And you hold it vertical, like a neo geo pocket.

Uh...no...I'm talking about the unit itself. It's wider than the GBC and you hold it horizontal (turn your game boy sideways).

    GBC: 75mm(W) x 133mm(H) x 27mm(D)

    I can only recognize the:
    GB original
    GMC
    GBA
Atari Lynx (my friend had on of these )
    NEC TurboGrafix 16
    Sega Nomad
    Game.com
    Palm IIIe
    and a Salid

what are the other ones (the clear ones, and the one between the nomad and the lynx)

huh...that's weird...so the gba is smaller than the gbc

Does that mean they shrank the screen size of the gca?

    Lightbulb DON'T FORGET......

The Game Boy Advance can plug into your Nintendo Game Cube, as a controller.

Why use it as a controller?

You get your own personal screen for choosing your plays on footbal games, etc..
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

Maybe we can learn to be just like him.

    Thank you, sir.

maybe the comparisons you read were about the GB original vs. GBA, and not GBC vs. GBA

I was all set to get a GBA this June, and today EB sent me a preorder form so I could get one. I was like ok, cool, lets see whats up. I got all excited as I was reading... It comes with Mario Advance, THPS2 and a battery pack. Cool, all for $99! Uhhh... no. $200 fricken dollars. $99 for a portable is ridiculous, but $200 for the package is even worse. Even worse yet, is that the package is the only way they are going to be selling it. F*&% that. $40 for the games? They had better re-think that... I'll spend my $40 on a new PS2 or PC game.

A rechargable battery pack is probably a 30 or 40 dollar item, so that might actually be a deal.

It would be a deal if you were willing to spend the $200 for a handheld. As cool as it may be, cmon, $200? I was having my doubts about getting one for $100. I'll wait till the price for the unit and the games drop a bit I guess... unless of course, they come out with a game I absolutely must have... say Ice Hockey? I loved that on the original NES... wish they would get that out for GBC.

    Talking Where to buy

First off, I don't think $99 for a handheld that can do what this thing can do is all that much to ask. Have you bothered to look at some of the screen shots for the games? or even to check out the specs on Nintendo's site? This thing's gonna rock!

In terms of buying one, why would you seriously consider paying full price + mark-up at some place like EB???!!! If you have to have one now, you can find imports on several web sites for the same price as the American ones will be at launch. Since there is no regional coding, a unit from the UK or Japan will play games from anywhere in the world just like an American unit will.

For a really expensive import, try national console support:
    http://www.ncsx.com

For a more reasonably priced import that also requires a game purchase, try Buy Rite at:
    http://www.buyrite.net

Or if you don't care about color choice, go for one from PlaystationSource at:
    http://www.playstationsource.net

You're talking about $20 shipping from any of those places. Or you could always go for one off Ebay. (That's where I got mine today.)

Another thing to keep in mind is that some American sites are selling GBA games on pre-order for around $30-$40. Considerably cheaper than imports are going for right now. And you can always pre-order a unit from Target or someplace if you don't mind waiting until July to get it in your hands! :-)
