S: falsely naming songs on napster!

one can't convey the feelings of dismay experienced when expecting to hear some of the yet-to-be-released Tool only to have little effin long haired, pampered, no-talent-havin, worthless, girl-lookin-like punk ass kids MMM-Bop at me.

and then.. then i listend to another tune. it was a band named Hallow, i presume. who the eff are you and why are you impersonating Tool? you think that'll get your name out there? uh uh.

and listen. whoever the smartass is that replaced Tool with slap-happy jackasses or whoever it was doing a cover of Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" - Eff you too!

I delight in that story.

Infact, a couple weeks ago, I was trying to get any and every rare or unrealeased Tool songs. Of course, thinking Napster was going to be no more. Then I came across the new album. I was wondering wtf all these wierd songs were, when it hit me, The new Album was on Napster!!! I eagery downloaded the entire disc, not listening to any of it until I had the entire release in full. I double checked everything against their website and finally finished after about 45 mins.

Well friend, same shit happened to me. Among my favorite disguised songs were, Puppy Love, The Macerana, Bobby Brown, and others. Serves us right, but I was thouroughly disapointed!!!

And the sad thruth is I thought closer to the release date that there was a chance the real versions might be there, so I downloaded a couple more. LOL, of course they were the wrong songs again. . . . .

I couldn't upload it to any of my geosh1ties accounts. Yahoo has decided the file manager is no longer available to be used by me. The good news is I can still link to files stored there. And american express free isp is now limiting how many hours I get a month. But you don't see me griping about any of that.

Just be thankful I didn't link to that frigging mmmbop song.

I too have come across this inconvenience and i can tell you why this is... I dont know how many of you are familliar with ftp sites but it is a big little business. Basically it works like this..an individual will post his music/vids/warez...etc on an ftp site. He then will ofer accounts to look at his collection on sites such as oth.net. To gain full acces he will make you click on some banners or sign up for services...etc hence he profits when you want his music through banner adds... etc. Now i tried this a few times and decided it wasnt worth it...until i began to notice that some ftps were offering unreleased material..so frantically i signed up with all the services...etc only to find that the ftp was constantly flooded with users... or the songs werent really the unrelease material they were just renamed files...a sham to get you to click the banners and go to the sites....

So now ive got a dave matthews song that is realy a group of no talent hacks...or some lame musical or whatever and it sits on my comp for a few days before i decide to gather the energy it takes to drag and drop it into my recycle bin.

in that time...my napster is open and twenty people download this fake song...and from them twenty more...you see where im going with this...in a matter of weeks thsi bs song is all over napster..and there you go

now...being in a band i see a way to gain off this.. encode a demo song of my band..rename the file to something in the style of what i do and bam..instant distribution..as you know it doesnt matter what a songs name is..when playing in winamp the encoded title appears..

So at this point i ask a question to you all...do you think that if the recording industry didnt go through all this trouble...that napster would destroy itself with all these fake songs and such. What a waste of money by the RIAA

Maybe it's people from the RIAA flooding Napster with fake songs, hoping to discourage downloading, figuring we'll all get sick of the fake tunes.
