Thread: Radeon All in Wonder cooling

im looking for a heatsink fan for my radeon all in wonder. when i overclock it to a little under 200mhz the video distorts. im guessing running it at 195 for extended periods will also mess it up some. i already know the oem hsf is stuck on pretty good, but i want it to run it a little cooler than that puny little fan can. also, has anyone put on ram sinks on this card? i might do that too if its not that hard (ive heard that ramsinks can get a little tricky.)

It sounds like your RAM is hitting it's limits rather than the GPU. When the GPU is being pushed too far, the system is unstable. When the RAM is pushed to far, you'll have visual artifacts.

Go to 2cooltek.safeshopper.com and try some ramsinks

    Cool sbp is right

When I had a 32MB Radeon DDR, I could only do 185 without artifacts.

Putting Ramsinks on my current Radeon TIVO gave me another few MHz, but that's using frag tape. When I took one off awhile ago, I found the ramsink with the frag tape was only contacting the edge of the RAM (only about 10% contact). I was surprised I had a gain at all! I'm ordering some Arctic Silver Epoxy to remedy this.

Results vary with ramsinks...depending how much heat is an issue with the RAM. You can get anywhere from 0 to 30 extra Mhz.

    My Best Results...

Using Rade-on 4.7, I managed to get 193 out of the RAM and 203 out of the GPU. I found that asynchronis oc-ing worked for me. However, at the time, I was playing Giants-no problem. The same settings in Tribes2 gave me snow. So, I'm back to the conservative 192/192, at least until I find a prog that I play at less than 40fps.
