Actually, post it up. I'm looking at the Acura CL/TL-Infiniti I30-Lincoln LS level cars, and I'd be interested to get an impression if the Maxima would be sufficient. I know, I know, the I30's just a rebadged Maxima, but, sorry to say, there's a prestige issue here.

Love to hear what people have to say, I hear the engine's great, but the Acuras have more power. Thoughts?

Acuras are nice, if you go with that, I'd go with the TypeS version. Its worth it. More horsepower. http://carpoint.msn.com/vip/Jedlicka/Acura/CL/2001.asp

As for the Nissan's, I'd take the I30 mainly because of what you said "prestige" issues. Besides, its much better looking too.

I like Lincoln LS a lot too, but seeing as though I'm only 25, I opted for a 325i. I hear they come in V8 too.

Best advice I can give you is to test drive it them all and see which you enjoy driving best.

Hey, my friend Adam just bought a new Maxima this weekend. I'll see if he'll let me drive it. If he does, I'll post up my impressions, although they're likely to be biased by the fact that I really like my 944. Everything else that I've driven recently just feels like it wants to slide off the road.

I am looking at the type-S's. I just can't decide if I should buy a car that looks better (the CL) or a four-door I could hold onto for a while (what with biz school coming up in a few years). I constantly see '92 Acuras that work and look great. It'd be kind of cool to have a car that I wouldn't get tired of in 8 years!

I'm just interested in the Infiniti because of the high-zoot service, although the value of the Acuras is tough to beat. I've also heard wildly divergent reviews of the Lincoln, from best American car on the road to same-ol' tasteless buffet-style Americana. The lack of nav is a killer for the Lincoln, but if it drives just out of sight, I might be swayed...

I used to have a 2 door Mazda MX6 for like 7 1/2 years...I really liked the car, had a very good time with it. BUT, maybe after the 4th year, I got sick of the fact that it only had 2 doors. Its a pain. Now that I'm older, I cannot stand it. I would only get a 2 door if I had a 4 door car sitting in the garage as well. Its just isn't practical to have a 2 door as your only car. So personally I'd go with the TL TypeS. I was considering the Acuras but the TypeS hadn't come out when I wanted to buy a car. I didn't like the instrument panel on the regular TL. It looked very cheap. The TypeS, however, looks very sweet. I think the biggest selling point is that almost all luxury amenities come standard (I think its 2k more for nav system) and even the Xenon lights come standard.

I wouldn't get the infiniti personally mainly because if you buy the car, the resale value isn't as good as getting a TL/CL. Of course, as you said, they would pamper you like no one's business. I hate dealers that sell you a car and you never hear from them again. (Which happens to be almost all non-luxury dealers) I think Lexus and Mercedes have the best after-purchase service that I have heard of.

Aside from the LS being the best look domestic car, I personally wouldn't buy it (maybe lease it) cuz of the resale value.
