Thread: Why does IKena ask for our Social Security Number??

    Hello All!

This is my first post, but I have been following this forum for a while now. :-) Like some of you, I managed to get 15 referals for that iKena DVD promotion. I noticed that they asked for our Social Security number on the afidavit. Does anyone know the danger in providing them with this info? A friend of mine said they could sell our data and biographical info to telemarketers! Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!!!!!!!

I suppose they could do all that stuff, but it would be illegal.
The reason they have to get it from you is for their tax purposes, it is required by law.

Well, its is for tax purposes and to prove that you are a real person so that they can use it as a tax write off...

I wonder if Ikena plans on giving 1099s to everyone who gets a free dvd player?

I actually found the Ikena software to be very "invasive" -- I deleted it. The fact that it raised havoc with my computer was a large part of the reason, but that tracking portion made me feel kind of squirmy.

Actually, I'm just whining because I couldn't get close to Fifteen referrals.

no one is required to get your ss # for tax purposes unless the value is over 600 or something... i know thats why casinos online ask u for your ss, cuz they need to report to the irs for winnings over 600 or so.

Read the affidavit again people. In small print at the bottom, you'll find that it says "In accepting this prize, I consent to the use of my name, likeness, and biographical data for advertising and promo services, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law." It's usually a good idea to read these people..I don't care, if someone calls me for some crap i'll tell them to suck my left nut. Just wondering though ... for people who sent the affidavit in soon after they got that email saying they won the dvd player or whatever, have they contacted you? I faxed mine in Monday, but i'm not sure if they're gonna pull a "never got that..." on me.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat too. I faxed mine last Monday and haven't heard a thing from them. I'm thinking I might just message them to see if all the papers came in ok. I might as well also ask them if they plan on selling my name to others. Cause that would really suck, I don't want to be bothered by telemarketers for the rest of my life!

    Anyway, thanks for the responses!

Well, I checked my email account, they just said they received my affidavit (nice of them to let me know). Checked my mother's account (got one in her name too =D ), but I saw an email saying they never received the affidavit. Odd, considering they were both faxed in one after another....
