Picking up the self-install roadrunner kit tonight from time warner! Yea baby! This is gonna rock! No mo' dialup for me! Anyone else have road runner? Like it? I guess I need to finish that cable line to the pc room ASAP. Just need to crimp a jack onto the cable and install the wall plate! Sorry for gloating but I is excited!

I always wished Wile E. Coyote would catch that damn bird. After all, he's a super genius!

    Yeah, I have RR

but it isn't as great as I thought it would be. For one, their email sucks half the time. Supposedly they are upgrading systems and such, so that is why, but geez... I went almost 3 weeks without getting ANY email at all. Sucked, big time! Now the speed is great! I have a problem occasionally with it cutting out and I will get disconnected from icq and won't be able to get to anything on the web, but that usually is back on in 2 minutes or so. Could be a problem just in my area, too, I don't know.

    Anyway, have fun!

when i first got the connection, it would cut out 2-3 times a day. Thats been resolved, but lately my speed has sucked (a few more people in my neighborhood have it now)
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

Maybe we can learn to be just like him.

    Yes, sir.
    No, sir.
    Thank you, sir.

You know, when I saw the message subject, I thought we were going to be having an intelligent debate on Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote. <sigh> Oh well.

I don't know if this will be a blessing or a curse, but I just moved into a new housing development. There shouldn't be too many on the same "line" as me yet. However I know there are at least two houses besides mine that have cat5 run throughtout, so I am not the only geek in the neighborhood. Most people that I have asked in the Cincinnati area have liked roadrunner over the dsl service here. The one bad thing is my neighborhood is too far out for dsl so if anyone wants highspeed they only have one choice.

    Thumbs up

I like RR a lot. It's way preferable to DSL (PPPoE that is). Some people get fast and some people get not so fast data transfers on it because they are in the process of upgrading the system. They're going to a 100% Cisco DOCSIS compliant system. If you have the motorola modem youre on the slow version, if you have the Toshiba or the 3com, youre on the fast one. I had a Motorola but it "broke" so I traded it in for the 3com... It's ugly as sin, but the network I'm on now is way way faster.

I believe my brother had the same problem with his first motorola and now he has toshiba I think. I'll found out in the next 30 minutes or so.

What kind of tweeks are availbe for cable modems. I didn't play with it too much last night. I did the dslreports speed test and it came back with upload and download speeds around 350kb/s, certainly not the 2mb/s they advertise! What other speeds are people getting?

There are some tweaks at dslreports.com in the "Tools" area. Should apply to your cable connection as well.
Shall we buy a new guitar?
Shall we drive a more powerful car?

read up before you apply any other tweaks
