While I'm gone during my 3 month vacation, I'm gonna have my car parked in the lot. Recently my friend told me it's better to have another friend start the car every week or so to prevent the battery going out. Is that really necessary? Is there a difference if I just come back in 3 months and get it jumpstarted? In what ways will starting the car every once in a while benefit my car?

a battery that drains to nothing may not ever come back.

What I'd do is just disconnect the battery, put a little gas stabilizer in the tank, and not worry about it. Your friend just wants a free car for 3 months.

Just dissconnect the battery and put a trickle charger on it. The car should be on a stand with the tires of the ground. and the car should be covered up tightly.
I think I think I read this from Motor Trend.

But here is a good link.
