PS2 X-box or game cube

Which would likely be the top console at the end of this year? I was also wondering would gaming company's continue making games for most of these consoles, THE PS2 or X-box? For my own opinion I want sony to continue being on the top I just HATE microsoft products. And I dislike the fact that it's a stupid computer for the TV. It's almost like using twinview to play games on your tv instead. That's just my opinion. I am all kewl with nvidia and all the stuff that's inside of it but I just dislike the concept of the console itself. I personally would prefer a computer over a computer like gaming console? Anyone else have their opinions or think who might be at top at the end of this year thanks

Nintendo's probably not gonna be a winner in the overall market... they're becoming way too niche. Their whole market is the Pokemon crowd; little kids and preteens.

Microsoft is just PUMPING out advertising money for the Xbox. What is it? Half a BILLION dollars? That's an amount my brain can't even comprehend. They've got a LOT of developers onboard and better programming tools for their platform. Sony's done a poor job of getting out solid developer tools for the PS2, which is odd, since great developer tools is what helped them win over the console market with the original Playstation. The Xbox is technologically superior, has a lot of good games coming out, and advertising cash that will just about fit in the Grand Canyon. That's hard to beat.

On the other hand, Sony has enough leverage to drop the price on PS2. They could knock maybe $20-40 off of it, and Microsoft just can't match that at this stage. Right now they're gonna be losing like $120 a unit, so that may be a factor. Also, they've already got the ball rolling. A year head start is a lot and that's not even thinking older PS games.

So, who's gonna win? I dunno. But if I had to pick, I'd say Microsoft. When it comes to taking over a market--like I always say--their management is just too damn good. Their strategies, when revealed, always impress.

the ps2 is just as bad as the xbox when it comes to computer like features. they are adding peripherals to make up for what it already lacks.

the ps2 will probably be the last one standing, then nintendo but microsoft will probably crash and burn in the console market. sony has a too large user base already and a great console, nintendo is nintendo so itll go on more then likely. microsoft on the other hand has so much haters, not just antiMS people but the japanese will not like it merely cause its an american attempt.

regardless how good the xbox is, theyve got everyone against them and its hard to see them succeeding in the console market. I do however WANT the xbox to take off and ps2 to crap over and die. basically the gamecube will take off, the ps2 will go on, the xbox will probably fail.

saw on the UPN13 news last night here in LA... the XBOX has a whole bunch of Star Wars themed games. From what I saw last night, it looks totally bad-a$$. I think it's definitely gonna give Sony a run for its money.

But I think Sony will eventually prevail, since MS is not helping its company image with its new subscription based WinXP. I think that will the only reason why not as many people will jump on the MS XBOX bandwagon. MS has to start giving away more stuff for free in order to improve the general public's perception of them, which is a bunch of money-hungry nerds...led by the biggest and greediest nerd of them all.. Mr. G.

Simple answer: Which ever is easiest to copy games for. Why do you think the Playstation took off. Personally i thought it sucked ass, the graphics were horrable.

after checking both of them out extensively today...i'm going to have to say X-box. One of my friends whjo was at E3 with me today is more a fan of the game cube, but oh well. They both have some awesome features that I'll talk about when my friend uploads our pictures from his card reader later tonight. X-box definitely has more games coming with the first wave, but the hook-up between the game boy advanced and the game cube is a pretty sweet feature too.
