Cambridge, Mass. - Scientists have discovered a way to harvest electrical energy from common 'pest' insects. These insects are hooked up in a massive array and the aggregate power is on the order of several hundred kilowatt hours per day. Reportedly, the only maintainence necessary is to spray them with sugar water.
J. Steven Griles, of the petroleum institute, was unimpressed. 'Obviously, this is California's fault somehow,' he scoffed 'This looks the work of foreign insects. Do we really want America's power held hostage to foreign insects?'
Tom Daschle, putative senate majority leader, immediately questioned the insects' motives. 'Do the poor have enough insects? Is Big Insect gouging us again?
'
President Bush was unavailable for comment. According to aides, he was in an important meeting with Messrs. Daniels, Behm, and Cuervo.
