    Unhappy

Anybody else have problems with Components Direct? They won't take phone requests for tracking information, only e-mail requests. Their web site says that tracking requests are replied to within an hour, but I waited 4 days and still got no response. Then, they took 10 days to ship me the wrong part. When I called them, they said the correct part would be more expensive, but it shouldn't be (it was a deal for GotApex readers). I just emailed their RMA department, we'll see if they fix it for me.

My advice it to stay away from ComponentsDirect. Buy from newegg, mwave, allstarshop, or tcwo. These webstores have proven good service!

I didn't know to contact her, but thank you for the information. If they don't get in touch with me by Monday, I'll email her. Luckily, I bought it on my Amex Blue card, so if I have any problems, they'll take care of me.

Yeah, let me know. She's always been able to handle problems in the past. It's all a matter of contacting the right person. That's why we requested a service rep specifically for gotapex.

In my experience with componentsdirect.com is well documented on this site. You can try to contact Nichole, but I don't think it makes anything faster. Your real choices are to wait 1-2 months for your credit, or call BLUE and have them worry about it.

    Good luck!

    Angry

Well, componentsdirect.com has lost yet another customer. They took several days to respond to my RMA email only to ask me to type my initials on the bottom of the RMA form. Then they tell me that I ordered the wrong part and that they will not refund my shipping or pay for return shipping. The price I paid is clearly listed on this site for the product I requested. I have just emailed Nicole, so we'll see what she has to say. I think American Express might end up having to take care of this for me.

The ONLY reason I ordered it from them is because I know that gotapex.com has a deal with them. I found the same product for about $5 cheaper elsewhere but decided to order it from componentsdirect.com because of loyalty to got|apex. I wish I had seen posts on other peoples' experiences with this company before ordering. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

    Thumbs down

Hi Apex, you asked what Nicole said earlier. Well, I emailed her and she didn't even bother to reply to my email. I hope either you guys have a talk with her, or you should perhaps re-evaluate your relationship with Components Direct. As I see in the forums, I am not the only one to have a bad experience with them. I also looked them up on the BBB website (wish I had done it before buying from them), and they have had many problems with the company. I also doubt they gave you guys a correct referral because the sales person seemed to ignore the fact that I said I was a Got|Apex reader. I don't think he had any clue what I was talking about.

I apologize if it seems like I just keep complaining; that's not why I'm posting right now. I am posting to see if anybody has any advice. I called Amex and they said that they could not dispute the charge until I sent the product back to the company. Well, I don't want to pay shipping to get it sent back to them, hence the entire issue. If I was willing to swallow the original and return shipping costs, I would be able to get a partial refund! Whoopee! Any advice on what I can do now? If there is no way around it, I'd be better off losing the shipping money than $100 for the whole charge, but there's gotta be a way to do something without making me pay for their mistake. Thanks.

I think Darth should Flame all of them for Dissing Components Direct. CD is a fine upstanding company that does everything in it's power to make customers happy.

And Darth this is not dissing CD so don't start on one of your little temper tantrums. I warned everyone about CD and you flamed me and you said they were really good about this stuff. Well suprise, suprise someone else got screwed and you have nothing to say? Nicole has nothing to say as well? I was kind of waiting for one of those "On behalf of Componentsdirect.com I want to apologize for this inconveince and we would like to rectify this situation for you immediatly." That's all she says and she never fixes the problem in a timely fashion. Well you get the idea, I just don't want anyone else to get screwed by CD and if APEX won't warn you I will. I Hope CD corrects the mistakes they have made and everyone is happy . . .

    Exclamation

Here's what the Better Business Bureau had to say about ComponentsDirect:

"We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance record. Some complaints allege the company failed to deliver ordered products. Other complaints allege the company failed to issue refunds for cancelled orders. The company responds to some complaints by delivering the ordered products or in some cases issuing requested refunds. A few complaints are recorded as disputed, the customer was not satisfied with the company's response. Other complaints remain unanswered. The Better Business Bureau does not endorse, recommend or dissapprove of any company, product or service."

OK, we've talked with Nicole. Unfortunately, she said she did not receive a phone call, and since I do not have any contact info from you, I cannot help you plead your case.

We've dropped their text advertising. Because of our contract with them, we have to keep their banner until the end of the contract.

If any of you know of any non-scum computer hardware companies that are interested in advertising or having their hardware reviewed, please let [email protected] know. We use over $1000 worth of bandwidth here a month, and are open to any suggestions or leads.

How's about newegg? I have personally used newegg and was satisfied after someone here suggested them. So far they have shown decent service and excellent prices. Bizrate overall rating 8.9/10. Reseller Rating 6.3/7.0

    bbb on newegg:
Based on our standards, we rate this company as having a satisfactory business record. To be rated satisfactory, we must first have company background information. The company must also have been established long enough for us to gain a clear understanding of the nature of its business to determine that it is not a marketplace problem. Finally, the company must have given proper consideration to any matters we may have referred to it. Our complaint history for this company shows that this business has a clear record. To date, no customer complaints have come to our attention. This company is a member of the Better Business Bureau and has agreed to the Bureau's membership standards, which include a commitment to ethical business practices. A Better Business Bureau report is based on our file information and experience with an individual company over the past three years. The Bureau does not endorse, recommend, or disapprove of any company, product or service

My concern may be with what appears to be a sister site of mwave.com who is given an unsatisfactory rating from BBB, but a reseller rating of 5.6/7.0.
    Just my thoughts.

It took me over a month to get the GF3 that they had for $390. The best part is that Best Buy has the Visiontek for $349 the following week. Their tracking department (or lack thereof) is rude and uneducated at best. CD should be avoided at all costs!! They are the prime example of how price shouldn't be the only consideration when purchasing a product.

Darth has nothing to say? Big Suprise
