Shifty Nat Geo Channel: Doomsday Preppers

I just found this show, and it is hysterical. Has anyone seen this yet?
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

Maybe we can learn to be just like him.

I have! (This is especially odd because I've watched prolly a grand total of 2hrs of TV in the past year.)

If I was a prepper my strategy would be to simply stockpile guns and ammo. IMHO as long as you have those two things you can get pretty much anything else you need. Which is why the preppers on that show seem to place a high value on defending themselves. So I'd say that's a smart move on their part.

what I find hysterical is that they take something with a basis in reality and then stretch it well beyond the ridiculous. For example, a guy is worried that the poles may shift (which they always do a bit), then he starts to go a bit too far thinking they will do a 180 instantly (probably a forgivable mistake), then he really goes overboard claiming that this will cause a massive shift in the contenants. Antarctica will be equatorial, Texas will move to Canada's latitude range, etc. I have no idea where he got that from.

Sounds quite entertaining. I'll have to check it out!

There are some stories about the producers making things "more entertaining" by getting people to say more ridiculous things than they originally think, as well as editing for effect. Which is typical for a "Reality" show.. But still funny to watch. Saw some girl who supposedly had a degree in economics that was actually worried the US was going to go into chaos because of the "Extremely High" Unemployment rate (At the time I believe it was 9%).. She obviously didn't know what she was talking about. While 9% isn't good, it's definitely not "Extremely high" not even close to the highest it's been before. And still only about 4-5% out from "Frictional Unemployment" which we will always have.

Also on the "guns and ammo" I cold see that if you're a prepper, but most of them go way overboard on the "Guns" part.. And they need more ammo. Ammo is easier to carry, ammo runs out. You need some guns, but 60-80 is kind of nuts. Tons and tons of ammo.

I know some of it is faked, as I had read articles on one guys setup, and it had nothing to do with a doomsday scenario, and others on the show are obviously reading scripts based on the cadence of their speech. But some of them are down right nuts!

There were a few people I felt bad for. Within a few minutes of one womans segment, I felt like things were a bit off, and shortly after it seemed like that "offness" was due to her being raped at some point.
