    Exclamation

I continue to be impressed with nature (except maybe those bugs that bite me).

I have some sunflowers that are starting to grow pretty big and it is cool to watch them. They track the sun throughout the day kinda like a sattelite dish. That is pretty cool!!

Perhaps I will start to post photos of my plants to compete with those of people's kids on here :-)

My mom has a story for different flowers/plants.

This is the story of the sunflower (what I can remember)

There once was a girl with beautiful long blonde hair and the most beautiful brown eyes. She was in love with the sun god, Apollo, but he never paid any attention to her. She spent all of her days watching him fly over in the sky, back and forth. She never ate, she just watched for Apollo.

She became very skinny and near death. The god of all the gods, Zeus, made her into a sunflower. The yellow petals symbolize her long blonde hair, the brown center symbolize her beatiful brown eyes and he made the stalk thin like she was. The bloom of the sunflower always follows the sun.

When my mom tells these stories they're really cute.

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

the sun god (in some religion) is Ra. we used to do a cheer at football games where the cheermaster would yell "All Hail the Sun God" and the croud would shout RA! and it would reverberate off the walls and it was wicked nifty.

I think one of them might be Zeus, not sure though.

I thought/think Zeus is the Greek God of love... he fell in love with the goddess afrodesiac? I'm probably wrong....

I just remember him in Clash of the Titans.

    Sunflowers are cool too!

Zeus (Jupiter to the Romans) is the top dog, err, God. He's also God of storms and lightning. Apollo (Phoebus), one of Zeus's sons, was the Greek sun God, riding his golden chariot each day across the sky. Aphrodite (Venus) is the Goddess of love.

Zeus fell in love with a lot of Goddesses and humans as well. His philandering and Hera's (his wife) jealosy seem to symbolize the male-female dynamic pretty clearly.
Common sense is what tells you the Earth is flat.

ROFLMAO Afrodesiac? lol It is sort of appropriate, because an aphrodesiac is a scent or taste that is supposed to induce romantic, sexual feelings. LOL Sorry, I just had to laugh.
